Church Staff

Mark new photo.jpg

Before coming to CPC, Mark served with his family for six years as a Mission Coworker in Honduras where he worked with the Presbyterian Church of Honduras building leadership capacity and facilitating mission partnerships. Before moving to Honduras he served as pastor to congregations in Ohio and North Carolina.

He has a passion for the Bible, believing that the truth it contains goes far beyond the narrow confines of literalism.  Rather than being used to control and confine, Mark believes God’s Word is meant to free us to discover the life that God has always intended for God’s children, and the church should be a place where people, in all their wonderful diversity, can bring their gifts to share with one another and with a world in need of real grace and love.

Both Mark and his wife, Ashley, grew up in the Memphis area, and both graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in 2001.  Mark also holds graduate degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, and German.  They have three sons, Ethan, who is studying computer security in New York, and Eliott and Gabriel who are students at Lausanne School.

Session Elders

Elders are elected by the congregation as ordained officers of the church for three-year terms at the Annual Meeting.  The role of an Elder is to serve as a spiritual overseer of the church, determining church policy, exercising leadership, government and discipline while acting as a shepherd to the congregation, setting an example for all. Serving on the Session, Elders are expected to hold the entirety of the church and its mission and vision along with the other service that they offer. Serving as an Elder is a rewarding and demanding calling that requires Christ-centered commitment, ongoing prayer, humility, and discernment through community.
